Finally, the Pleasantville softball team was able to get a game in after having their first attempts at starting their season rained out. However, the Trojans stumbled out of the blocks and fell in a narrow 2 – 1 decision in favor of Mount Ayr. Andi Sowers was 2-for-3 at the plate, and Hanna DeJoode had a hit and scored the team’s only run. Bailey Oliva was solid on the rubber, giving up two runs on six hits, while striking out ten. The No. 5-ranked Trojan boys had an easier time with the Raiders, defeating them 10 – 0 in five frames. Josh Luna threw an abbreviated no-hitter, striking out eight batters in the process. Zeb Adreon knocked in four of the team’s runs. The record for P’ville baseball swells to 3 – 1, while the girls start off 2015 on an 0 – 1 foot. Pella Christian is each team’s next destination after the weekend on Monday.
