Significant rainfall is coming to Iowa for Memorial Day Weekend.
Showers and thunderstorms will bring widespread rainfall amounts totaling in the 2″ to 3″ range, with locally higher amounts possible with stronger thunderstorms. The rain is expect to start later today, and last through Tuesday morning. The highest rainfall amounts are expected to fall Sunday evening into Monday morning. River flooding may become an issue, especially in south-central Iowa. Thunderstorms may become strong to severe on Monday evening. Flash flooding, along with urban and small stream flooding, may be an issue with any stronger thunderstorms.
