Lucas Hileman took a no-no into the sixth, and the Pella High offense provided just enough run support to sweep Pella Christian on the baseball diamond last night, 7 – 4 in game two. Game one was a resounding 11 – 1 Little Dutch win, and the hot bats continued to the nightcap. Pella’s offense broke through with two runs in both the third and fourth frames, followed by a big blast from their big bat, Grant Judkins. His eighth home run of the season ended up being the game-winner, as the Eagles scored four unanswered in the sixth and seventh to make a game of it, before Marcus Wittmer came in to get the save in relief. Scott Haveman went 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Dillon Branderhorst hit a double and scored a run for the Eagles. Judkins went 2-for-3 with three RBI, and Avery Van Zee at the bottom of the order for Pella was 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs scored. The Little Dutch improve to 18 – 2, PC is now 8 – 14. Both teams play tonight; Pella is at home with Ottumwa, while the Eagles play two at Norwalk, one being a resumption of a suspended game (Eagles trail in game one, 3 – 1 in the third).
