“Flawless Victory” is one way to describe how the Pella Christian baseball and softball teams performed on Saturday in two different tournaments. The No. 6-ranked Eagles’ softball club ran the gamut and conquered all three challenges they faced in Oskaloosa. PC dominated Albia, 12 – 3, in game one. Emma Schnell had 12 strikeouts on the rubber and the Eagles put up an eight-spot on the board in the third. The score was a little closer, but the result was the same versus North Mahaska, as they won, 9 – 3. Natalie Vos got the win with seven strikeouts, and PC put up five runs in the third. The day ended with the Eagles blanking Twin Cedars, 11 – 0. Courtney Johannes was the victorious pitcher, striking out ten Sabers, and the Eagles scored six runs in the first and five more in the fourth. Sophie Howerzyl had a single and a triple that game and Abby Pleima put up a pair of singles. The Eagles’ baseball team won at Eddyville-Blakesburg without dropping a game, defeating Pekin 4 – 0, and then over the host Rockets, 7 – 6 in eight innings. PC softball improves to a stellar 10 – 1, while the boys snap a five-game losing streak to get near .500 with a 4 – 5 mark. Both teams play Pella on Monday night. You can hear the baseball game live on AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA and KNIAKRLS.com, with Andrew Schneider providing the call. First pitch is set for 7:30.
