Nearly the entire landscape of the 2015 Central baseball team changed from what they looked like a year ago. Coach Adam Stevens was gone, and in his place was newcomer, Matt Schirm. A senior class that set a program mark for most wins in a four-year span was departed. In their place, a talented group of youth and some experienced veterans were all anxious to show what they could do. Things started slow; the Dutch won just four of their 11 non-conference games, the pitching staff was giving up multiple home runs, and they began conference play with a 4 – 6 record. Once things settled down, Coach Schirm says he was pleased with how the final three weeks of the season transpired. Central went from sixth place in the league standings all the way up to third, and that’s where they finished in the Iowa Conference tournament. Central ended up with a 22 – 21 record and went 16 – 12 in conference play.
