Even with the wind howling and the temperatures feeling more like late October than late May, Pella High boys’ golfer, Corey Elliott, shaved a stroke off his round one score on Saturday to finish in 20th place individually at the Class 3A state golf meet in Livermore. Elliott was able to move up in the standings by six slots thanks to smart play and being able to stay around par, while the rest of the field struggled. Day-one leader and individual champion, Dane Waldron from Clear Lake, followed up his first round 69 with an 81 to win by just one stroke. The Pella senior scored an 80, which was tied for ninth best in day two. Four seniors graduate for head coach Bob Fessler.
