Whitebreast Creek Flooding on G-76[/caption]

A flood warning is in effect for Marion County until 4 p.m. this afternoon.
White Breast Creek has risen over 23 feet in the since 9 p.m. on Wednesday, and as of 8 a.m. was at 29.86 feet, or more than seven above flood stage. The National Weather Service reports that 7.5 inches of rain fell during that period of time. English Creek south of Knoxville is approximately three feet over its banks.
CLOSURES (as of 9:45 a.m.):
The Iowa DOT reports that Highway 14 near the English Creek has been closed south of Knoxville. As per the Iowa DOT, Highway 5 between County Road H33 and County Road G71 (near Hamilton) is closed as well as between County Road G76 and County Road G62 (4 miles south of the Knoxville area). A detour is in operation.
Highway 92 from County Road S31 (near Sandyville) and Highway 5 (near Pleasantville) is blocked in both directions due to flooding.
The English Creek has also closed Highway G76 west of Highway 14, which has been closed by The Marion County Secondary Roads Department. Quebec Street is also closed at English Creek between Highway 14 and 94th Place. They say that Marion County has many gravel and a few paved roads underwater from localized flash flooding and stream flooding. Local authorities remind drivers to avoid crossing roads with water covering them, as it only takes a few inches of rapidly flowing water to carry away a vehicle.
A Flood Warning has been issued for the Des Moines River from Cedar Creek near to Middle Avery Creek near Chillicothe. According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 3.26 inches of rain fell since early Wednesday morning near Cedar Creek. The National Weather Service says the Des Moines river will rise up to just over two feet above its banks downstream from Lake Red Rock and in the warned region.
