Forced to step up to the varsity level fairly early in their careers, the freshmen that took the court for the Central women’s basketball team will be something to watch as they get to be sophomores, juniors, and eventually seniors. There were a total of nine freshmen that were on the roster, and all of them saw playing time in some capacity during the 2014-15 season. Tina Lane averaged over five points per game, Jackie Kriegel contributed five points and six rebounds per contest, and Alison Malaby scored nearly four points per game. Coach Chelsea Petersen says the women that will be back next season will return their talents plus a lot of experience. Petersen adds she’s excited about the new batch of freshmen that will don the red and white for the Dutch, and she hopes some will have an instant impact on the program and success of the team.
