Knoxville Baseball got another sweep on the road Tuesday night at Centerville, and they stay perfect in the South Central Conference heading into a huge night at home against Davis County on Thursday. The completion of a previously suspended game and regularly scheduled home game against the Mustangs will likely determine the conference championship. Knoxville leads the suspended game 1-0 in the middle of the fifth inning. They will be the visiting team in that game that will start at approximately 6:00 pm on Thursday night at the Knoxville Baseball Field. Knoxville will be the home team on the scoreboard in the full game that follows.
Knoxville won game one over Centerville last night by a score of 9-1 with a complete game on the mound from Kaden Loscher who allowed only a run in the bottom of the seventh as he earned his second win of the year. Loscher gave up just the one run on seven hits while striking out five and walking no one. Austin Little went 3-4 at the plate in game one. Jake Kendall also had three hits. Knoxville led 1-0 in the 3rd before Jared McClung drove in two runs as part of a four run inning. Knoxville put up another crooked number in the seventh to extend their lead to 9-0.
In game two, Knoxville got another great start on the mound, this time from Sophomore Cam Liston as he got his second win of the season. Liston struck out seven and gave up only three hits in five innings of work. Tony Salato struck out the side in the sixth inning. The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth when Knoxville exploded for five runs and then added an eight spot in the sixth to complete the 13-0 win and sweep of the Big Reds. In the nightcap, Knoxville got two hits each from Tony Salato and Calyn Bumgardner and Tony Salato. Kevin Woodhouse extending his hitting streak to 24 games with a base knock in both ends of the double header.
#5 Knoxville now sits at 17-3 overall and a perfect 11-0 in the conference heading into Thursday night’s showdown with Davis County.
