The Knoxville and Pella Softball Squads waited two days to complete their suspended game from Wednesday, and for the Panthers it was worth the wait as they defeated the Lady Dutch last night 2-0. Both pitchers Elyse Sadler for Pella and Delaynee South for Knoxville were able to control the game for the first five innings by getting out of jams and keeping hitters off balance. However the sixth inning was where Knoxville broke through. The Panthers got going in the sixth with a lead-off single by Taylor Carter, who advanced on an error and came home on another error. Lucy Olson provided the insurance on an R-B-I single. Coach Steph Christner told KNIA/KRLS Sports the defense played well and Delaynee South was on point. Pella Coach Krista DeMeulenaere told KNIA/KRLS sports that this contest was a repeat of another rivalry game they played this week against Pella Christian, with Lady Dutch mistakes again the difference. South went the distance getting the shutout allowing just three hits striking out two and walking three. Elyse Sadler took the loss allowing five hits and walking three. Knoxville improves 9-6 on the season and will travel to Davis County on Monday. The Lady Dutch fall to 8-6 on the season, and will begin a four game stretch of Little Hawkeye Conference games on Monday when they host Norwalk.
