You could say the bats awoke for the Knoxville Softball Squad last night in Chariton as the Panthers defeated the Chargers in a 10-6 slugfest. Avery Neer went 4/4 with two-R-B-I, Carrie Chambers went 3/3, Taylor Carter was 2/4, and Ricki Hall was 2/3 with two R-B-I. Anna Sanderson also racked up two R-B-I, Cheyenne Jones got an R-B-I and Lucy Olson also batted in a run. Delaynne South earned the win going the distance allowing six runs on 13 hits striking and striking out five. The Panthers are 5-4 on the season and improve to 2-2 in the South Central Conference. A date at Albia looms tomorrow night.
