The Pella High baseball team keeps putting the pressure on the rest of the Little Hawkeye Conference race in the league standings, and did so again last night with an 8 – 0 shutout of Grinnell. Jordan Meyer pitched well enough to earn his first career victory, going six innings, allowing three hits, four walks, and striking out six. The offense behind him helped early, as the Dutch scored in each of the first three innings to take a quick 6 – 0 lead. Grant Judkins continued his all-conference season with a 3-for-4 day at the plate, finishing just a single shy of hitting for the cycle while belting his seventh home run of the season, and driving in three runs. Marcus Wittmer was 3-for-3, and Landon Vander Leest had a hit and an RBI. The No. 2-ranked Little Dutch are now 16 – 2 on the year, and they play two across town at Pella Christian. You can hear the nightcap live tonight on 92.1 KRLS and KNIAKRLS.com, with Cory Houser and Andrew Swadner on the play-by-play. Pre-game coverage is set to begin at 7:15 p.m. with first pitch at 7:30.
