A seven-run first inning set the tone for another Pella High baseball domination last night in their 13 – 1, five-inning affair with Washington. The Little Dutch sent 12 men to the plate in the inning, and then added four more in the third. Grant Judkins was 3-for-4 at the plate with two triples and four RBIs, Marcus Wittmer, Landon Vander Leest, and Tanner Wood all had two hits. Lucas Hileman was the winning pitcher, allowing only four hits in five innings of work. The Lady Dutch dropped a close one to Centerville, 8 – 6. Kinzi Van Wyk was the losing pitcher, despite the offense racking up ten hits, including a home run from Lydia Dingeman, and two doubles apiece by Kaylee Butler and Alexa Dingeman. Pella’s boys are now 10 – 0 on the season, and the Lady Dutch drop to 8 – 5. The Little Dutch are off until tomorrow to play Saydel, while the girls host Knoxville this evening, and you can hear the Pella call live of that contest live on 92.1 KRLS and on KNIAKRLS.com, with Andrew Schneider on the play-by-play. Pre-game will begin at 7:15 p.m. with first pitch at 7:30.
