For the first time in 2015, the Pella Christian baseball team grabbed a conference win, splitting their doubleheader with Newton last night. PC took game one, 7 – 5; Clay Stravers picked up a pair of hits, and Jaden Rolffs provided a big spark offensively, with a bases-loaded double to drive in three runs, while his brother Josh earned the win on the mound. The Eagles had a 3 – 0 lead in the fifth inning of game two, but squandered it to the Cardinals and fell, 5 – 3. Jaden Rolffs and Ben Bouwkamp each collected two hits in the loss. PC softball took a 3 – 2 win over the Cardinals. Emma Schnell grabbed another win, while Courtney Johannes went 3-for-4. Pella Christian baseball sits at 6 – 12 overall, 1 – 9 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and they are hosting a tournament in the Tulip City later this morning. The softball team is 14 – 3, and they’re in a tournament at Oskaloosa today.
