Seniors Eric Larson and Jamie Vander Veer from the Central men’s track and cross country programs were named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division III team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Larson compiled a 3.45 cumulative GPA while studying economics and was picked to the second team, while Vander Veer, with a 3.63 GPA while majoring in mathematics and secondary education, was named to the third team. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity contributor, maintain a 3.30 or above GPA, and be at least a sophomore. It’s the 51st and 52nd time in school history that student-athletes have received the All-American Academic honor, and the first time since Larson received it in 2013 that it has went to a track and field athlete.
