Both Knoxville Softball and Baseball Squads had the weekend off. After the last couple of weeks, both Panthers Squads needed it. The Softball Squad had a very good week going 3-0 highlighted by a win over class 2A #2 Edsdyville-Blakeburg. That win plus other wins over ranked opponents has vaulted the Panthers into the #14 spot in the latest Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union rankings in class 4A. Coach Steph Christner tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they play for postseason and with five games to go they need to polish off a few things. The Baseball Squad is still ranked fifth in the latest Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Poll and took a major step towards a conference title Thursday night with a sweep of Davis County. The Panthers are now three games up with five to play, starting tomorrow night with Chariton.
