The Pella High Baseball squad’s undefeated start to the season came to a halt in Grimes after losing 7-6 and 5-0 to the Mustangs. In a pitching rematch from the game at Pella, it was the offenses that overshadowed the Tanner Wood vs. Cole Baker matchup, as both would wind up with no decisions in the first bout. DCG won the game on a walkoff after Pella tied it six-all with a Grant Judkins three-run blast in the top of the 7th. The junior was the highlight player in the first game, going 3 for 3 with 4 RBI.
Head Coach Jesse Jablonski tells KNIA/KRLS sports that his team didn’t handle their first loss of the season well, and came out fairly flat in game two against Dallas Center-Grimes. Senior Marcus Wittmer went 2 for 4 in the losing effort, and Lucas Hileman was tabbed with the loss after giving up five runs in six innings of work.
The Little Dutch fall to 12-2 on the season and will turn around and head to Williamsburg later today for a pair of non-conference games against the Raiders and Mt. Pleasant.
