Another dominant effort by Grant Judkins helped set the tone for a sweep of Grinnell by the Pella High baseball team last night. The Little Dutch won game one 8 – 0 and finished it off with a closer 2 – 1 decision in the nightcap. Judkins threw a complete-game two-hitter, giving out no free passes while punching out ten Tiger batters. He also contributed offensively with a three-run jack. In game two, Lucas Hileman threw five innings and gave up only one run, while Marcus Wittmer came in and earned the save by getting the final six outs, three of them via strikeout. Tyler Hileman had the game-winning hit, with a two-run base knock in the third. The Lady Dutch took down the Tigers on the softball diamond, 8 – 0. Elyse Sadler threw six innings, allowing two hits and one walk. Sara Tallman had three hits, stole three bases, and scored two runs, and Alexa Dingeman drove in four runs, three of them coming on a home run. Pella’s boys’ record swells to 8 – 0, the girls are 6 – 2; the former is off until Monday to face Pella Christian, and the latter is in Oskaloosa for three games in tournament play.
