The Little Dutch Baseball team was on the better end of a pitcher’s duel with their 1-0 victory against conference rival DCG on Wednesday night. Pella scored the lone run of the game in the bottom of the first with the bases loaded, when Grant Judkins touched home plate following a throwing error after a Landon Vander Leest groundball. Senior Tanner Wood tossed a five-hit gem in the complete game shutout victory. He says it was a tough task keeping the bats of the Mustangs silent. Head Coach Jesse Jablonski says that it was an excellent night for his senior hurler and the defense behind him. Pella moves to 5-0 on the season and will turn around and host Chariton tonight. The Lady Dutch fell to the Fillies in their contest, 8 – 4. The loss breaks their four-game winning streak and drops them to 5 – 2. Pella’s girls take on Grinnell next on Friday.
