Another remarkable season for the Pella High boys’ tennis team came to a close on Saturday, and it was capped off by a third place finish from the doubles’ team of Tom Pettit and Jamison Roozeboom at the Class 1A state tournament in Waterloo. After sweeping their two matches on Friday, the Dutch faced strong competition from Davenport Assumption in the semifinals, which was won by the Knights, 6 – 4, 4 – 6, and 6 – 1. The Pella tandem took on Decorah in the consolation round and won in straight sets, 6 – 1 and 6 – 3 to earn third place honors. Pella was 8 – 2 as a team this year during the regular season, and they’ll say goodbye to a total of 13 seniors, which included Roozeboom and Pettit.
