It was a game that PCM had control of for the first four innings and looked like a potential upset over the fifth ranked team in 1A. But the lead was finally squandered by PCM in a dream inning for the home Trojans, who went from a 2-1 deficit, to scoring 10 runs and batting 16 in the 5th inning to take command of the game with an 11-2 lead. PCM pitcher Chase Keuning was ousted in the 5th inning after allowing the first five batters of the inning to reach base. The dream 5th inning was punctuated by a two-run double by junior first baseman Zeb Adreon with the bases loaded. Pleasantville Pitcher Josh Luna, after a shaky start, settled down in the later innings and ended up stranding eight PCM runners in five innings.
Pleasantville Coach Sheldon Card talked about Luna’s performance tonight and how he really came through for the team when they needed him to.
The fifth-ranked team in 1A improves to 7-1, they play in a three team tournament on Saturday with Coon Rapids and ADM. PCM drops to 2-6 and plays Saydel on Tuesday.
