There were big shoes to fill all around for the Central baseball team in 2015. Coach Matt Schirm, in his first season, had to take over for Adam Stevens’ 11 years at the helm, and with him left a senior class that set a program record for wins during their four-year span. However, Coach Schirm and the youthful Dutch were up to the challenge. Despite a slow start, they finished 22 – 21 overall, they earned a number three seed in the Iowa Conference tourney, and ultimately finished third, just a game shy of making it to the championship series. Matt says a lot of credit should be given to the seniors for their guidance this year. Though they lose the four seniors, a very talented and still young core comes back for Coach Schirm in 2016, which is just eight short months from getting underway.
