While the majority of flood waters are making their way out of the area, there will still be many impacts in the days to come.
According to the Army Corps of Engineers, Lake Red Rock is expected to reach 770 feet–or 28 feet above normal, by July 1st. Assistant Operations Manager Josh Conrad tells KNIA/KRLS News that the lake is currently using 1/4th of their total storage capacity, and will use more than half by next week. He says due to a dry spring, there is still room for more water if necessary.
He says that water above the 760 elevation will prompt some more closures at many recreation areas.
“We went ahead and closed South Overlook Boat ramp and also there’s a section of the Volksweg Paved Trail adjacent to the Marina, that area was closed also,” Conrad says. “We anticipate that the Whitebreast Beach Area will be closed probably within the next few days, and also the Cordova Boat Ramp.”

Cedar Creek rose more than 20 feet in the same time span. A flood warning remains in effect for that section until 9:30 a.m.
English Creek - 6-25

Just before noon, the English Creek broke a long-standing record with a level of 28.2 feet, breaking the previous record of 27.88 set on July 16th, 1982. The overflow of area streams prompted closures along Highway 5, 92, and 14, as well as many rural roads throughout the county.
