Just like the men did earlier in the week, the Central women’s basketball team hired a new assistant coach recently. Former Augustana College (out of South Dakota) athlete, Alex Feeney, was named to the Dutch coaching staff. Feeney has recently been working as a graduate assistant coach at South Dakota State University over the last two years, helping the team claim the 2014 Summit League title, as well as the tournament crown, and earning a bid in the 2014 Women’s NIT, where the Jackrabbits reached the final four. Feeney was a four-year starter at Augustana, was named the freshman of the year in the 2009-10 season, and scored 1,723 points while grabbing 828 rebounds. Coach Chelsea Petersen says Feeney knows her stuff on and off the court, which makes her an extremely valuable asset.
