It was slow going through the first three weeks of the season for the Pella Christian baseball team. The Eagles hobbled out of the gate, going 3 – 12 after winning their first two games of the year. Much like last year, PC did not win a conference game their first trip through. And, similar to 2014, Pella Christian has found ways to get better and get into playoff form down the stretch this season. Since starting out with a 5 – 12 record, the Eagles have won eight of their last 11 contests, and are 4 – 3 in league games in that time frame. Coach Nate Johnson feels the pitching and defense are the main reasons they’ve been on a tear lately. Pella Christian has two games this week to finish their regular season: a Monday showdown at Dallas Center-Grimes, followed by a home game with PCM on Thursday.
