The Pella Christian Softball team wrapped up a successful 2015 regular season with a 9-0 victory over Montezuma on senior night. Senior Tessa Howerzyl was 3/4 with an RBI double and two runs scored in her final regular season game as an Eagle. Courtney Johannes earned her 2nd win of the season with a no-hitter, with the lone base runner coming on an error in the 7th. Howerzyl says that Johannes was locked in from the beginning.

“She was throwing really well, hitting her spots,” Howerzyl says. “She threw hard, and I don’t think they were used to that speed. It was awesome.”

Senior Abby Pleima has been nursing a leg injury, but says she’s excited to return soon in what she hopes is a deep postseason run.

“I thought the regular season was awesome, I think it prepared us really well,” Pleima says. “We had a few games that were learning games in the regular season, but it’s good that we learned.”
“I’m really excited [for the postseason], and we’re ready for it.”
The Eagles finish the regular season at 22-9, and will host Van Meter in the regional round on Wednesday evening.
