Not taking advantage of early opportunities and committing four errors led to Knoxville’s defeat against Grinnell last night 6-5. The Panthers stranded the bases loaded in the first inning and would leave six in scoring position for the game. Base running and fielding errors would also hinder the Panthers’ quest for victory and ultimately the Tigers walked off on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh. Coach Joel Johnson told KNIA/KRLS Sports last night was a learning experience for the entire team that nothing is going to come easy. Kevin Woodhouse took the loss in relief going two-plus innings giving up one run on one hit and three strikeouts. Jake Kendall started and give up the other five runs but got a no decision as Knoxville came back to tie the game in the top of the seventh after being down 5-2. Knoxville is now 21-4 on the season and will host Nevada in a double header tonight.
