They’ve arguably been in playoff form all season, and Pella High baseball showed it again last night, downing Nevada on the road, 8 – 1. Lucas Hileman threw a complete game, scattering seven hits while striking out five. Hileman was also 2-for-3 at the plate and knocked in a pair of runs. Tanner Wood had two hits, Marcus Wittmer joined the offensive machine and had two RBIs. Coach Jesse Jablonski tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that the team got out to a quick lead so many of the starters were able to get some rest heading into a critical doubleheader tonight on the road against Oskaloosa. All Pella needs to do is win one game and they’ll be Little Hawkeye Conference champions.
