Despite a late season surge, the PCM baseball team’s season came to a close last night with a 9-6 loss to Davis County in the Class 2A Region 11 semifinals. In a Mustang vs. Mustang matchup, PCM fell behind 7-2 before coming back with four runs in the top of the 5th to pull within one. However, Davis County pulled away with three runs in the bottom of the 6th.

Senior Trey Linsday was 2/4 with two stolen bases in his final game as a Mustang and Clay Cooper was 2/4 with 2 RBI. Chase Keuning gave up seven runs–four of those earned–in the losing effort, also his final game in a Mustangs jersey. Head Coach Shawn Hudnut says that he’s extremely proud of how his team finished the 2015 season despite the campaign-ending loss.

“We’re really proud of where they’ve come from the second, third, and fourth week of the season,” Hudnut says, “We were at a real low point after a rough stretch there.”

“They just scratched and clawed the whole way back to build confidence and get themselves back in a position where we could play with a team like Davis County.”

PCM finishes at 9-17 and says farewell to six seniors.
