Proposed plans for a trail system and bike lanes throughout Knoxville were unveiled during a meeting with the trails committee this week.

City Management Intern Lauren Dietz says around 30 people showed up for the meeting, in which survey data was discussed by planners from Snyder & Associates and feedback offered by citizens.

Dietz says one of the main concerns for citizens was educating the public about the rules for bike lanes on city streets.

The hope is to have a trails plan approved by the Knoxville City Council in November.

Dietz says the next trails committee meeting will be in September.
