The Marion County Sheriff’s Office wants to speak with individuals who may know something about the murder of 68-year-old Shirley Carter.

Carter was shot and killed in her home at 132 Perry Street in western Marion County on the morning of June 19th.

Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS News that over 100 individuals have already been interviewed by his office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and other area agencies. He says they now want to talk with anyone who was in the vicinity of the home between 7am and noon on the day of the murder or has been recently asked about buying a rifle. Sandholdt says autopsy results state Carter was killed with a rifle.
