The Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a day of activities at Lake Red Rock on the 4th of July.

Park Rangers will host “Pond Exploration” from 10 to 11 a.m. at South Tailwater. They will also hold “Let’s Go Paddling” from 1 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Creek, which is chance to experience both canoeing and kayaking in the same day. The evening will conclude with the birdwatching hike, which takes place from 8 to 9 p.m. at the Playscape.

Pond Exploration:
Go “mucking” at one of the lake area’s wetlands! Dip nets and tubs will be available for you to try and catch some of the critters swimming and crawling in and around the area! Mucking can be messy, so please wear old shoes and clothes. Meet at 10 am, South Tailwater (parking lot by large picnic shelter).

Let’s Go Paddlin’:
Enjoy the chance to experience both canoeing and kayaking in the same day! Give one or both types of watercraft a try and see how much fun paddling can be! (You must be at least 10 years old to use kayaks. Life jackets will be provided.

Birdwatching Hike:
Take a journey on a quest to discover Red Rock’s winged wonders! Learn some of the basics of spotting birds and identifying them by sight and sound. Bring your binoculars or borrow a pair from us. (Closed-toe shoes and long pants recommended). Meet at the North Overlook Playscape at 8 am.
