The Marion County Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to be safe on the roadways during this Fourth of July weekend.
Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says seat belts save lives and they’ll enforce the law, when necessary. He says while it’s better to educate the public on the importance of seat belts, some will still refuse to wear them and be cited for it.
Citizens are also asked to not drink and drive during the holiday. According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, six people were killed on Iowa roadways last July 4th, half of which were alcohol-related.
