The Pella High School baseball team dominated in all three phases of play against PCM in a 14-0 six-inning victory, a broadcast that could be heard live on KNIA last night. Each Little Dutch batter collected at least one hit and the team scored at least one run in each inning. The game was highlighted by four home runs, including round-trippers from Landon Vander Leest, Marcus Wittmer, Jason Morgan, and Grant Judkins. Head Coach Jesse Jablonski says it was nice to see his team flexing some muscle late in the season.

“The home runs are products of just putting good swings on the ball, and that’s what we tell our kids,” Jablonski says.

“We just need to continue to build on that momentum and continue to get better every day, we’ve got a busy week of games ahead of us.”

Judkins earned the victory by tossing five innings of one-hit baseball and racking up 10 strikeouts. PCM Pitcher Austin Brown did what he could to contain a red-hot Dutch offense, giving up three earned runs in four frames of work. The lone Mustang base knocks came from Noah Clark and Clay Cooper.

Pella High moves to 23-4 on the season and will head to Saydel later today to take on Ballard. PCM falls to 6-16 on the year and will face Lynnville-Sully for senior night in Prairie City this evening.
