Governor Terry Branstad vetoed a line item in the budget Thursday that would have provided more than $55 million in one-time funding for schools.

The additional money was a part of a budget negotiation agreed upon by the Iowa Legislature this past session. Pella Superintendent Greg Ebeling expressed his disappointment with the veto to KNIA/KRLS News, and says this will only compound a tough budget situation moving forward for many school districts, including Pella. He says that the school board will continue to try and maximize the dollars they receive moving forward, and hopes that legislators will consider a larger increase in state aid next session.
