The Pleasantville baseball team dispatched the winless Melcher Dallas Saints last night 10-0 in five innings in the opening round of the Class 1A District 12 playoffs. Nate Sowers got the start for the Trojans, and threw a five-inning no-hitter, only allowing two baserunners. Josh Luna hit a two run home run in the first inning, and the whole Trojan team contributed in an eight-run fourth inning in which they batted around the order and hit five doubles. The loss ends the season for the Saints, who despite being winless in their debut season, have a silver lining to build on as a program as that won’t graduate a player until 2017. Pleasantville will move on to play Wayne, a team that Head Coach Sheldon Card does not take lightly despite having defeated Wayne twice previously in the season. That game will take place in Pleasantville Thursday night at 7pm.
