The final piece of the Streetscape project in Knoxville should be completed late next week.

Robinson Street is expected to open on Friday, July 31st. The announcement was made during Tuesday’s Streetscape meeting.

Assistant City Manager Aaron Adams says sidewalk work will be completed this week with the pouring of 2 foot colored concrete bands next week.

An issue arose at the Knoxville City Council meeting Monday regarding the lampposts around the downtown square because some of the lamps that light the sidewalks are being blocked by awnings. Project engineer Greg Roth will look into seeing if a modification to the light fixtures can be made.

The total cost for the Streetscape project is just over $3 million dollars, with much of the work going to replace underground infrastructure that’s over a century old.
