Both Twin Cedars and Pleasantville Baseball teams came into the season with high hopes, the Sabers looking to repeat last year’s run to the state championship, and the Trojans looking to make a similar run this year. A rematch in the District 12 final does loom close on paper, but both teams still have one game each before they can start looking ahead. Pleasantville, who quickly ran past Melcher-Dallas in round one 10-0 in five innings, will have to play a Wayne team they have defeated twice already this season. The Trojans came into the playoffs on a scorching hot 22-game win streak ,but Head Coach Sheldon Card says none of that matters now that it is one and done in the postseason. Twin Cedars on the other hand has a tougher test ahead of them before they can start to plan for the district final. After dispatching a Moulton-Udell team 14-4 in six innings in round one, the Sabers now have to face an in-form Southeast Warren team who has won 13 of their last 16 games. The two teams have met once in the first game of the regular season where Twin Cedars pulled out a close 3-1 victory, but Twin Cedars Head Coach Matt Miller said, “Southeast Warren is a team we have a lot of respect for, and it’s going to be a tough battle for whichever team finds a way to win.” Both Pleasantville and Twin Cedars play at 7pm on their home fields tonight, and the District 12 final will be held Saturday night at 7pm in Bussey.
