In a thriller, a bottom-of-the-seventh single with two outs off the bat of Payton Shull scored pinch-runner Caleb Piersma from second and propelled Pella High into the Class 3A state baseball semifinals with a 2 – 1 walk-off win over Dallas Center-Grimes earlier this morning, as heard on 92.1 KRLS. Piersma was running for Jason Morgan, who reached first base to lead off the inning due to a wild pitch dropped third strike. Piersma was bunted over to second, and was waved home after the Mustangs’ left fielder had trouble playing the batted ball from Shull.
