A trial date has been set for a Pella man accused of brandishing a weapon during a June altercation.

Forty-nine year old Vincent P. Sanders pled not guilty Friday to charges of 1st degree burglary, a class B felony, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon and reckless use of a firearm, both class D felonies. According to court records, witnesses and victims told police on June 24th that Sanders entered a home on Peace Street without permission and was there to retrieve what he believed to be stolen property. They say he pointed the gun at victims and a fight broke out between numerous individuals. When the altercation moved outside, Sanders pulled the trigger of the firearm, shooting and killing his dog. During the incident, one nine month old child was present. A jury trial is scheduled to begin on September 21st.
