When the 2015-16 Central women’s basketball season starts up later this year, Coach Chelsea Petersen and her staff will have the dubious task of trying to find ways to replace and improve upon losing 33.1 points and 94-plus minutes per game from their graduated senior class. Because the minutes are so valuable for such a young squad, it has made the offseason work even more important for incoming freshmen and returners alike. Coach Petersen says it is part of what makes her job so enjoyable. Seniors will be scarce this season, but Petersen adds that the athletes coming in along with the underclassmen that saw a majority of the playing time last year will make her team competitive come November.
