Governor Terry Branstad’s proclamation of a disaster emergency for Marion County due to flooding last week has activated the Iowa Individual Assistance Program.

Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson says the program reimburses affected individuals up to $5,000 for repairs, clothing, or other consumables lost due to flooding.

Applications for Iowa Individual Assistance Programs are being taken by Nancy Hulgan at the following office:

Applications are also available on the Iowa Department of Human Services website, but applications will need to be taken to the Marion County Office to be processed. Potential applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation or until September 17th to submit an application/ claim. Red Rock Area Community Action will determine household eligibility for the program. Upon approval, vouchers will be issued to for eligible disaster related repairs or to purchase eligible replacement items from written estimates. Original receipts are required for those seeking reimbursement from paid actual expenses related to storm recovery.
