The controversy over the fallen soldier silhouette at Knoxville’s Freedom Rock reached the political stage in Pella earlier this week.

Louisiana Governor and Republican presidential candidate Bobby Jindal mentioned the silhouette, which depicts a soldier kneeling front of a grave marker in the shape of a cross, during his campaign stop at the Pella Opera House. He said it was ridiculous that the politically correct crowd was demanding the silhouette be removed from a memorial for veterans.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State recently sent a letter to the city demanding it be removed because it violates First Amendment Establishment Rights.

A rally to keep the silhouette is set for noon Sunday at the Freedom Rock.
