Power Outage 7-22

An equipment failure at one of Knoxville’s substations caused a pair of power outages last month.

Mid-American Energy spokeswoman Ashton Newman said a piece of equipment failed on Wednesday, July 22nd, at just before 8am, but no visible damage was seen by crewmembers and power was restored in a little over half an hour.

The equipment failed again on the morning of Saturday, July 25th, and this time damage could be seen and crews were able to replace to the damaged part. The majority of power on the 25th was restored by noon with all service restored shortly before 6pm.

Newman says over 3100 customers were affected during each power outage.
