We could talk all day and all night about how talented the Pella High football team’s offense was in 2014 to help lead them to a state championship. However, the Little Dutch “D” stayed consistent all year, even when the offense had its gloomy moments. Pella did not allow more than 17 points in a game all year, and they shutout five of their 14 opponents, one of them coming in the state semifinals against Cedar Rapids Xavier. While a majority of their defensive line did graduate, Coach Jay McKinstrey says his team brings back some valuable experience but also introduces some talented bodies to fill in the gaps. The kick-off to the 2015 season is now just six days away in the Tulip City when the Dutch welcome rival Washington to town.
