Marion County Public Health Nurse Judi Van Hulzen says it’s important that immunizations for children be up to date before attending school.

Van Hulzen says immunizations for kindergarteners must be completed before their first day of classes. She adds older students should also have their shots up to date.

Children ages 11 and 12 should have their TDAP shot for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis or whooping cough, the HPV cancer prevention shot, and the meningitis vaccine.

More information on immunizations is available at the Marion County Public Health website here.
