The case of a 13-year-old runway boy from Swan last week has led to a reminder from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office that there are better ways to solve family problems.

The missing boy was found at Jordan Creek Mall in Des Moines after a lengthy search. Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says many families have problems and there are people available to help in resolving family issues.

While running away is not the answer, Sandholdt wants anyone contemplating it to go somewhere that your parents will know they’re safe.

Sandholdt adds it’s never good to run away to a place where you could put yourself in danger and no one knows where you are.
