Marion County veterans will be at a special “Spirit of ‘45” program in Van Meter this weekend.

The ceremony recognizing the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday. Pat Stark with the Pella VFW says the “Spirit of ‘45” represents a time of unity in the free world. He says keynote speaker Capt. Jerry Yellin will speak about his time as a pilot near the end of the war. The public is welcome to attend.
