A Knoxville man recently shared stories about his job that were out of this world… literally.

NASA aerospace engineer Tomas Gonzalez-Torres spoke to a group at the Knoxville Public Library Thursday.

Gonzalez-Torres, who graduated from Knoxville High School in 1992, was the Extra Vehicular Activity officer for the final servicing mission of the Hubble Telescope. He was in charge of scheduling the spacewalks for the astronauts so they could make any corrections wanted by the Hubble people.

Gonzalez-Torres says they wanted to leave the Hubble in the best possible condition since no further repairs could be made.

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope.
