The Pella City Council will begin the planning phase for a pair of large scale infrastructure projects at their meeting this week.

They plan to set public hearing dates for the reconstruction of Hazel Street and the purchase of circuit breakers, switches, and transformers that will be used in improvements to the west electric substation.

The city intends to reconstruct Hazel from Elm to Maple Street by May of 2016. The more than $890,000 in electric equipment would be mostly reimbursed by Missouri River Energy Services and through the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) transmission rate recovery process.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Pella Public Safety Complex.
